- This paper has attempted to show that the theory of index numbers can be extended to provide the Diewert-superlative index numbers of prices as well as quantities that are suitable for developing countries. One example is the cost of living index while the other is the monetary index, both of which utilize the respective user cost concepts that differ from previous studies. Although the theroy is inherently complex, the resulting index numbers are rather simple and also desirable in view of the related empirical carried out for the developing country like Korea.

- 기술혁신은 현대산업사회 발전에 중추적인 기능을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 기술혁신의 지표로 특허건수를 사용하였고 연구개발비를 설명변수로 사용하여 특허의 생산함수를 추정하였다. 특허건수는 기본적으로 포아송분포를 이루지만, 포아송모형을 수정하여야 할 과산포현상이 관찰되었다. 또한, 국내의 특허건수는 특허를 1건 이상 등록한 기업에 대해서만 자료수집이 이루어지고 있어 본 논의에서는 0에서 절삭된 포아송분포를 구성하여 이 분포하에서 과산포를 모형에 포함하여 특허의 생산함수를 추정해 보았다.

- 본 연구는 우리나라 전화서비스를 중심으로 망외부성이 수요에 미치는 영향을 1974년에서 1994년의 자료를 활용하여 실증분석하고 있다. 최소자승법과 일반화학적률법을 응용한 실증분석결과, 접속외부성과 통화외부성이 강하게 나타나는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 공급측면에서 통신서비스를 분석한 여타 연구와 달리 수요측면에서 분석한 특징을 갖고 있으며, 앞으로 정보통신기술의 발달이 수요에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 많은 시사점을 제공해 주고 있다.

- 본 연구는 유럽연합(EU)의 주요 공동정책인 경쟁정책, 산업정책들 간의 일관성 여부, 또는 이들 공동정책들 간의 잠재적 갈등 가증성의 존재 여부를 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 유럽연합의 공동정책들은 유럽공동체 헌법이라고 할 수 있는 EC조약 및 이에 기초하여 채택된 제2차적 법률들의 틀내에서 운용되고 있다. 이들 주요 공동정책들의 목적과 내용을 규정하는 EC조약 및 관련 법률들을 검토·분석하는 가운데 각각의 공동정책의 정책목표와 이를 달성하기 위한 정책수단 및 그 운용방식을 살펴보면, 경쟁정책과 산업정책 그리고 통상정책은 각각 그 정책목표가 서로 다를 뿐만 아니라 더 나아가 서로 상충되는 측면을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 그리하여 산업정책이나 무역정책을 경쟁정책과 동시에 추진할 경우 경쟁정책은 충실히 이행되기 어렵게 되는 결과를 가져오게 됨을 알 수 있다. 또한, 경쟁법규에 따르면, 경쟁정책이 무역정책이나 산업정책에 비해 우선적 지위를 가지고 있어 이들 정책들에 명확한 한계를 부여하도록 되어 있음에도 불고하고, 다른 한편으로는, 경쟁정책을 시행하는 데 있어 오히려 산업정책적 또는 무역정책적 고려가 우선적으로 취해지고 있는 것을 알 수 있다 이러한 공동정책들간의 상충적 내지는 모순적 관계는 유럽통합의 궁극적 목적을 달성하려는 공동체의 시도에 일정한 한계를 부여할 수 있으며, 또 역외 국가들간의 통상관계에 있어서 계속되고 있는 갈등이나 마찰과도 무관하지 않다고 보여진다.

- Estimation of poverty income levels in Korea have not been active in past primarily due to difficulties in access to statistical data and apathetic attitude of public sectors. Income inequality measures, however, cover relatively long period of time, even though there are some controversial aspects mainly related with technical points. The regional variation of income and population are also identified by locating gravity centers, and it is found that income variations were approximately followed by population variation over time.

- The first objective of this paper is to suggest the sensible ways of estimating undernutrition in the absence of the ideal solution. To that end, methodologies are developed to deal with different levels of information available on the distribution of requirement.
The second objective of this paper is to develop a new class of undernutrition measures. A proper measures of undernutrition should take into account not only the proportion of people undernourished, but also the gap between the calorie requirement and ittake of each individual.

- In this study environmental effect of development policy as well as the economic impact on the target region is investigated using the household production model of the environmental good. Based upon the theoretical model we test the significance and the direction of the effect of the socio economic variabels considered in the model using the survey data from San Franccisco Bay area counties, Income, the type of job, and environmental amenity determine attitude toward income policy of a resident among others.
