- This paper reviews a series of attempt made with North Korean to cope with the changes in international economic situations for last two decades in vain except the help of Chinese ties. Furthermore, it presents a reluctant conclusion that ever since withdrawl of North Korea from from NPT, external would-be investors have been discouraged. and the amount of foreign investment inflow has been drastically reduced, Moreover, the current issue surrounding nuclear dispute also plays negative roles in the process of establishing special zones in North Korea, which made the supportive South Korea government¡¯s economic aids almost sole efforts.

Abstract || PDF
- The financial crisis was a huge blow to the economic growth of the East Asian Countries and it seems that the impact still continues. Most of them lost huge potential output, decreased factor accumulation significantly, and responded differently in restructuring. The rate of factor accumulation did not recover to pre-crisis trends in most of the countries. Taiwan and Korea responded most quickly facing the recession while Malaysia and Thailand were not adept in restructuring Total factor productivity growth rates precipitated during the crisis and recession of 2001, however, soon rebounded without showing obvious downward trends.
