    •    Several of the major works of political philosophy such as John Rawls' A Theory of Justice and Robert Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia have attempted the formation of a theory of justice, Friedrich Hayek as well has also attempted to derive principles of Justice consistent with a liberal social order. The purpose of this chapter is to examine Hayek's attempt.
         Our discussion is Hayek's theory of justice will begin with a review of some alternative theories of justice and Hayek's view of these theories. In the second section we examine Hayek's views on the concept of justice. After our consideration of Hayek's views of justice we turn to the concept of social justice and Hayek's critique of that subject. Our treatment of the topic would be incomplete without thoroughly examining the similarities and differences between Hayek's procedural theory of justice and that of John Rawls. Finally we conclude with a discussion of Hayek's theory of justice.

    •    This article addresses properties of the least median of squares estimator. computational aspects of the LMS estimation are reviewed, and the degree of approximation and optimality of the algorithms are investigated. An algorithm which yields more optimal solution than the traditional algorithm is proposed on the basis of L∞-estimation. To improve the computational efficiency of the algorithm. updating scheme is employed in computing the project gradient at some iterations of the linear scaling transformation approach. Also we suggest an effective procedure for outlier detection which uses the LMS estimatior to construct an initial clean subset in the sequential procedure. The proposed procedure appears to overcome the masking and swamping problems quite well.

    •    We deal with network design problems for a two-node cyclic queueing network with blocking. The network we consider has multiple general servers at one node and multiple exponential servers at the other node. We show that there is a single queue which is stochatically equivalent to the network and hence the throughput of the network is determined as that of this equivalent queue. Under certain conditions, we show there are very simple rules to determine the optimal allocation of buffer capacity and the optimal number of customers which maximize throughput of the network.
