    • Time-varying Risk Premia in Korea: Inference from Large Panel
      Wonho Cho, Yongjun Kim

We provide novel empirical evidence on the time-varying risk premia in Korean stock market using the econometric methodology developed by Gagliardini et al. (2016) that exploit individual stock returns. To do this, we first implement model diagnostics tests to search for a possibility of omitted factors in the specifications considered. Our selected workhorse model is the Fama-French three-factor model equipped with conditioning variables such as default and term spreads. The estimated risk premia from the conditional Fama-French three-factor model exhibit a unique time-variation pattern, especially during the 2008 financial crisis. Lastly, the asset pricing restrictions derived by the no-arbitrage assumption hold for individual stocks implying that the estimated betas well explain the cross-sectional alphas.

    • The Reshoring in the U.S., Europe, and Taiwan
Hyelin Choi, Sooyoung Lee, Minsuk Park

After 2008 Global financial crisis, advanced countries recognize that manufacturing industry is important for stable economic development. The governments try to attract offshoring firms to bring back to the home country to revive manufacturing industry. This paper investigates reshoring cases and policies for the U.S., Europe, and Taiwan. The analysis revealed that U.S. and Europe governments provide attractive environments for firms such as low oil prices, good infrastructure, high-technology strategy etc., and Taiwanese government provides customized policies by connecting research institutes and reshoring firms and thus allowing them to have access to cutting-edge technology.

    • Internet Job Search and Match Quality of Young Workers: Past and Present
      Myungho Paik

The developments of computer and internet technologies have changed our economic lives considerably. This paper examines how internet use affects job search and match outcomes of young workers in South Korea during the early 2000s and the late 2010s. Using the Youth Panel datasets, the result shows that the employment effect is not significant in the early 2000s, consistent with prior findings, but it turns out significant for unemployed workers in the late 2010s. The study also reports some empirical evidence of wage effects in the early 2000s. Workers successfully employed by internet search have a 5-7 percent wage premium over those employed by traditional methods except referrals or social networks. The positive wage effect is reported among women and previously unemployed workers. In addition, new employees who have ever searched online for a job are more likely to search other jobs in the early 2000s, while their probability of leaving current jobs is not different from that of non-internet searchers.
